Art Start believes that art is a powerful starting point for important public conversations.

The Art Start Portrait Project is a program, and a platform for youth to explore, reflect and self-determine who they are, and share with the world how that would like to be seen.

Putting it into Context

Artistic infographics and web-based campaigns about bio-psycho-socioeconomic factors and issues impacting youth, including systemic racism and oppression, poverty, gun violence, Post-Traumatic stress disorder, the impact of creativity on the brain, and more.

Youth Oral History Archives

A project in its early developmental stages, Art Start’s Youth Oral History Archive is a public, online archive with recordings of youth participants of Art Start accessing the platform to tell their own stories and reflect on the creative process, community, and other topics of their choice as a form of self-determination and youth representation in community spaces.

#SeeMeBecause

A social media campaign platform for underrepresented youth and families about what it means to be seen.
